August 2014 (part 2)

August continues.

Alta and Ellie went to their friend Andersen's superhero birthday party:
 A typical Ellie face:
The Browers have a customer/friend in Switzerland that Dan and I have now met a couple of times. His son was in the U.S. traveling for a few months and made a stop in Draper. We went to Snogression with them and played for hours.

Olive was trying to figure out how to crawl but usually just ended up doing baby planks:
Thomas took this one of Olive:
Testing a video here. Alta had been saving her money for weeks and needed $3 more for her lego set so Dan told her he'd give her the money if she jumped off this. I never thought she'd do it, but she did and then wanted to again and again.
We stopped by the store on the way home to let her buy her Legos. This was her first experience doing extra jobs to earn money and saving for a specific purpose. I was so proud of her!

And suddenly, summer vacation was over! Ellie started preschool first. She did so much better than our failed attempt last year. Ellie likes her teacher, music time, and all the playing and painting she gets to do.
Alta started 1st grade with Mrs. Barbano. She didn't have a hard time adjusting to all-day school like I thought she would. She loves having two recesses, eating lunch in the cafeteria (and even buying lunch a few times), and going to the library and computer lab.
Picking up Alta on the first day. She is in the same class as her ward friends Emmy and Mikayla again. And she's still the short one:

Olive is now an only child on M/W/F mornings. She naps for most of the time but we eat breakfast together:
And go on walks to the park:
And then she finds trouble while I try to get things done around the house:
One last August post up next.

  1. Love that video, especially when it speeds up and you can hear chipmunk voices! Brave girl Alta.
